We just got back from our Summer in the Smokies Workshop this august August. We had a great group and a great time. The weather was perfect and the group got great images. The fog in Cades cove was perfect each morning we were there.

Below are a few of the group having a good time, even at 6 AM

We had a few oppertunities for bear and deer but the hot weather, (91during the day), kept them in the woods.  Plenty of scenics and water images for all. An afternoon at Greenbrier was excellent. Unfortuntly a participant dropped his camera & lens into the river. Good thing for insurance.  We need to keep in mind that nature and wildlife photography is dangerous to us and our equipment. We must excerise extreme care.

Above a IR image from our IR class during the day. We used both the Singh-Ray IRAY filter and a converted Nikon D7000. The Nikon conversion was the Color IR conversion which lets you get a color IR image or a B&W image. Also above was a bear cub in a tree. Momma was close by with two additional cubs.

We also went out for some night photography. This is much more difficult here in the east as compared to out west. This is do to light pollution, but we managed some Milky Way shots.

All in all a good workshop. We will have our Springtime in the Smokies 2017 up on the 2017 schedual this weekend. Hope you can join us for a adventure of wildlife, scenics and wildflower photography.

We are also anouncing our Frog & Reptile Macro / Birding Workshop. This will be a joint effort with Vinny Colucci & Mike Mathews. This event takes place the weekend of March 18th, 2017. You will get images like the ones shown below so take a look and sign up. This workshop will fill up quickly.
